Want to work in a trendy Sydney bar or join a construction site in Melbourne? You'll need more than just a smile. In Australia, specific jobs require local certifications. Here is how to get the two most important ones.
The RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol)
What it is: A mandatory certificate for anyone serving, selling, or supplying alcohol in Australia.
Where to get it: You can do it online or in-person. Be careful: each state (NSW, QLD, VIC...) has its own rules.
Job types: Bartending, waitressing, or working in a 'Bottle Shop'.
The White Card
What it is: A safety induction certificate required to enter any construction site.
Why get it: Construction pays extremely well in Australia ($30-45/hour for beginners).
Requirement: A basic English test and a few hours of training.
